YORKTOWN, NY — A possible sale of an all-terrain vehicle arranged online turned into a crime in Yorktown. The Yorktown Police Department posted on Facebook that, late Tuesday night, on or near Columbine Court, a Yorktown resident had agreed to potentially sell his ATV on a social media marketplace.
When the supposed buyers arrived, police said, they displayed what appeared to be a firearm and forcibly stole the ATV.
One of the suspects drove away in a vehicle, with the other on the ATV, police said.
The seller of the ATV was not injured and called the police within minutes of the theft.
Police said one of the people involved in the theft was apprehended by the Westchester County Police and the Mount Pleasant Police Department in the Town of Mount Pleasant.
The ATV was recovered, police said.
Yorktown police said the investigation is ongoing to identify and arrest the second person.
Neither person is believed to be from the area, police said.
