The Cove Burger, an 8 oz. handmade burger served on a crispy English muffin, with lettuce, tomato, bacon and cheese, is the Cove’s specialty. If this mouth-watering meal isn’t enough reason to stop by the Cove, consider this – every table offers a view of the Hudson, with some also offering a view of the Bear Mountain Bridge.

Best Build-Your-Own Burger

The Murphy’s burger is 10 oz. of fresh, handmade perfection. These monstrously big “build your own” burgers are sure to leave you satisfied.

For less than $9, Burger enthusiasts can choose to stack lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, fresh or sautéed onions, mushrooms, cheese and chili atop their patty. Waffle fries or Murphy’s homemade potato chips are included. Warning – come hungry and be prepared to leave stuffed.

The Reef has a full selection of fully loaded burgers, including a blue cheese burger, a bacon cheddar burger, and a sautéed mushroom and melted provolone burger, but our very favorite gourmet burger is The Reef’s BBQ cheddar with applewood bacon and frizzled onions.

Friendly’s has perfected the art of making underage customers happy.  3 Friendly’s “build your own" sliders come on sticks atop a volcano waffle fries, and surrounded by miniature cups of pickles and condiments.

Readers Choice: Best Overall Burgers

Route 6 Bistrant, Mahopac

When we asked you, our readers, to help us choose the best local burger joint, you chose Route 6 Bistrant in Mahopac.

Patch-reader-turned-burger-aficionado Ken Agni gave his endorsement, “delicious burgers for about $10 depending on toppings, and all ingredients are made fresh in their kitchen, including nacho chips and mozzarella.” Thanks, Ken –  we couldn’t have said it any better.

We asked Chef Danniel P. Maffucci to recommend his best selling burgers. Chef Maffucci recommended the "houser" favorite, The 3 Ton Jack - which is 10 ounces of prime beef topped with thick cut bacon, cheddar, Jack Daniels spiked bbq sauce & onion rings - or maybe his Stuffed Crust Pizza Burger, or his brand new Triple B Burger. On second thought, you may have to stop in and just decide for yourself.
