Police Blotter: Drunk Drivers, Man Caught with Marijuana, Man Steals and Stuffs Pants with Pills Bottles from CVS, Man Menaced Pregnant Woman

A round up of police activity from June 23- June 29: men drive drunk and swerve in lane, unlicensed motor vehicle operations and suspended registrations, men found with four grams marijuana, men steals bills bottles.

Friday July 23

3:44 a.m.  Police arrested Michael J. Simone, 25, of Mahopac and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving with a 0.08 percent or more blood alcohol content, aggravated unlicensed operation, and failure to maintain traffic lane. According to police officer Angel Garcia was on patrol on Route 6 when he observed a vehicle driving "erratically" west-bound on Rt. 6. He stopped the vehicle and arrested Simone for allegedly driving while intoxicated. A computer check also revealed the suspect's driver's license was suspended. Simone is due in court on August 26.

8:44 a.m. Police received a call about dumping at Ben Franklin School, 3477 Kamhi Drive. According to police someone dumped a large pipe of cardboard on the grass, near the entrance of the school. A school personnel had found it.

9:35 a.m. Police received a report about larceny at 3495 Crompond Road, the former Yorktown Mitsubishi, now the current Curry Nissan. There was a stolen vehicle registration from a car that would have been purchased.

1:18 p.m. Police received a fraud report from a Holyoke Road resident who reported unlawful billing to him phone bill for the amount of $59.92. It is unknown who made the billing.

10:15 p.m. Police arrested Paul H. Rivera, 21, of Garrison and charged him with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. At approximately 10:10 p.m. police officers Noone and Scatola were on patrol on Route 6 near Lee Boulevard when they saw a vehicle was being operated without working license plate lamps and conducted a traffic stop. Upon investigation, they found the driver, Rivera, possessed four grams of marijuana. He was released on his own recognizance and is due in court August 26.

Saturday July 24

10:49 a.m. Police arrested Brooke P. Bromberg, 22, of Mohegan Lake. She is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and suspended registration, both misdemeanors.  In addition she is charged with speed in zone and uninsured motor vehicle, both traffic infractions. Police officer DiPietrantonio was operating radar on Lee Boulevard when he observed that a vehicle was being operated over the 30-mile-per-hour speed limit. He stopped the vehicle and following a check, it is alleged that Bromberg was driving with a suspended registration while her NYS license was suspended. She was arrested on the scene and transported to the police department. Bromberg was released on $250 bail. She is due in court on August 26.

10:56 a.m. Police received a report about an attempted larceny of a parked vehicle from the parking lot of the A&P Shopping Center, 100 Triangle Shopping.

3:36 p.m. Police received a report of a vehicle fire from a Meadowcrest Drive resident. There was minor damage to the car, 2000 Volvo. The fire started in the engine compartment because the anti-freeze ignited some plastic under the hood. The fire was extinguished by a police officer.

8:19 p.m. Disorderly youths at Yorktown Community and Cultural Center, 1974 Commerce, were reportedly loud the night of the Bon Jovi Tribute Concert (which took place inside the Yorktown Stage). According to police the youth were supposed to be in area of the Gazebo. When the officer got there, the youths were gone.

Sunday July 25

2:39 a.m. Police arrested Aquiles A. Escobar, 57, of Mahopac and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to maintain lane, and insufficient brake light. At approximately 2:15 a.m. police officer DiPietrantonio was on patrol of Route 6, in the area of Mountain Brook Road when allegedly he observed a vehicle being operated with insufficient brake lights. In addition, the vehicle was swerving within its lane. The police officer stopped the car and determined that the suspect was operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition. Upon processing, police found out Escobar's license was suspended for an alcohol related offense. Within the last 10 years, the suspect has had two prior convictions for alcohol related offense. The was released on $200 bail. He is due in court on August 29.

2:57 a.m Police received a larceny report at New City Diner, 3825 Crompond Road. According to police it was a dine and dash.

Monday July 26

8:41 a.m. There was a structure fire at a Fisher Pond Road residence. The fire started in the kitchen and was extinguished upon the fire department arrival.

11 a.m. Police arrested Andres W. Arias, 30, of Yonkers man. He is accused of stuffing his pockets with multiple pills bottles. As he exited the CVS store on Commerce Street his "bulging pants" were "rattling like a large maracas band." A CVS employee called police and gave them the suspect's physical description and vehicle information. Police stopped the suspect on the Taconic State Parkway and arrested him approximately 15 minutes after he left the store. Arias is charged with two misdemeanors of petit larceny, a second degree criminal contempt, and unlawful possession of marijuana. In addition, it is alleged that the suspect violated an order or protection barring him from visiting a CVS employee. Following processing at the Yorktown Police Department, Arias was arraigned in court and released on $1,000 bail.

Tuesday July 27

2:55 a.m. Police received a noise complaint because of a loud party on Beaver Drive. Officer Sgroi and two other officers were investigating till 3:15 a.m. No arrests were made. The parents were home the night of the daughter's party, police said.

11:46 a.m. A Vine Road resident reported a violation of a temporary order of protection. The mother reported that her 18-year-old daughter and a 21-year-old male, whom she had a temporary order of protection against, were communicating. There were no arrests made because the daughter would not cooperate and the order of protection  expired that same day.

8:27 p.m. Police received a larceny report that a 1993 Mustang 1993 was stolen overnight from the Shrub Oak Getty gas station, 3700 Barger Street.

Wednesday July 28

6:46 am. Police assisted state police in arrested a Tarrytown ma at the Bear Mountain Parkway and Route 202 intersection. A state topper had stopped his car and the Yorktown Police Department assisted the tropper until the suspect was placed in custody.

8:23 a.m. Police arrested Donald E. Cebron, 57, of Yorktown and charged him with third degree menacing, a misdemeanor. Police were called to the Cebron residence on a report of a physical confrontation between family members. After investigation, it is alleged that during the argument he "menaced" a pregnant female. He was arrested and processed at police headquarters. He was issued an order of protection on behalf of the victims and the witnesses. Cebron was released on his own recognizance. UPDATE: As of Dec. 21 the misdemeanor charge was reduced to a harassment, a violation. The case has been closed. 

Thursday July 29

5:00 a.m. Police received a call from a woman who reported that she was harassed in a domestic dispute. The incident had happened in the town of Cortlandt and the YPD waited until state police arrived. 

6:39 a.m. A Blossom Court resident reported being harassment through messages. The investigation will continue, police said.

1:40 p.m. Police received a report about graffiti at Lake Reservation, 1600 Spring Valley. There were graffiti made on numerous benches with a magic marker. There was no one there at the time.

2:17 p.m. A Mohegan Avenue resident reported to police that her neighbor dumped garbage on her property and jumped on it. Police say a report will follow. 

11:40 p.m. Police arrested 18-year-old Yorktown Heights resident and charged him with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. They also arrested 15-year-old Yorktown Heights resident for juvenile delinquency. If charged as an adult, he would be charged with a criminal possession of a controlled substance. Their names are withheld due to their eligibility for youthful offenders. Officer Ryan Noone investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Apar Field parking lot and discovered that the two suspects were in possession of marijuana and cocaine. The 18-year-old was issued an appearance ticket to appear in court on August 31. The juvenile was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Westchester County Department of Probation on August 10.
