Police: Good Samaritan Threatened with Knife, Nearly Hit with Car

He was trying to intervene in a domestic dispute, police said.

New York State Police announce the arrest of Waldy Negron, 34, of Mohegan Lake, NY Dec. 19.

Troopers were called to a parking lot on Crompond Road in Cortlandt in response to a menacing with a knife complaint.

Police said their investigation revealed that Negron was involved in a domestic dispute with a family member when a good Samaritan tried to intervene and assist the victim. At that point, Negron produced a knife and threatened to stab the good Samaritan. Negron then returned to his vehicle and fled the scene when he heard approaching police sirens. As he fled, Negron nearly struck the good Samaritan with his vehicle.

Troopers caught up to Negron nearby shortly after the incident and he was taken into custody.

He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (a Class “D” Felony) and Menacing 2nd degree (a Class “A” Misdemeanor. The first charge is elevated to a felony because Negron has a previous felony conviction.

He was arraigned in Cortlandt town court and transported to Westchester County Jail. Bail was set at $7,500 bail.
