Relay For Life Events In May and June
American Cancer Society Announces Relay For Life Events For May/June in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam

With an estimated 110,280 new cases of cancer anticipated in New York this year, the American Cancer Society is fighting back and raising funds to support its lifesaving mission through Relay For Life with 18 planned Relay For Life events in Westchester, Rockland and in Putnam this spring. “The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the lower Hudson Valley, the state and the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all,” said Patrice Lestrange Mack of the American Cancer Society. “Many participants are our family, friends, and neighbors who have faced cancer themselves. Each new person that registers brings us one step closer to saving more lives.” What Is Relay For Life? Relay For Life is an event where teams and individuals “camp out” at a local school or park and take turns walking around a track or path. It is noncompetitive nor a road race. Each team has at least one participant walking on the track at all times and participates in raising funds to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to finish the fight against cancer. The Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to fight every cancer in every community, with four million participants in 6,000 events worldwide in 2015. Volunteers Needed “From assisting with pre-event planning to taking part the day-of, to supporting post-event fundraising efforts, there are volunteer opportunities that range from a few hours of community service to longer serving leadership roles,” she added. Join the Relay For Life Movement One of the best ways to experience Relay is to register online at relayforlife.org, then start a fundraising team or join an existing team. Committees are now hosting “team meetings” and accepting individuals or groups of two or more from businesses, schools, families, places of worship, and more. Teams and individuals can sign up for a Relay For Life event by visiting us online, stopping by American Cancer Society offices in White Plains or New Windsor or by calling 1-800-227-2345.
