Bronx Man on the Hutch Arrested with Illegal Prescription Drugs: Police

This is the second significant drug-related arrest by the same officer and his canine partner in a week.

Westchester County Police arrested a Bronx man Thursday for illegally possession prescription drugs.

Dionny Duran, 51, of Franklin Avenue was stopped for a traffice violation on the northbound Hutchinson River parkway near Webster Avenue in New Rochelle.

Officer Christian Gutierrez noticed alterations to the Acura MDX’s floorboards, which is often an indication that a hidden compartment has been installed, police said.

Gutierrez brought his canine partner Jax to the vehicle and a presence of narcotics was indicated where the alterations were.

Duran was taken into custody and the vehicle was impounded.

A search allegedly discovered 4,500 Oxycodone and Percocet pills.

Duran was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was arraigned Friday in New Rochelle City Court and held without bail at the Westchester County Jail.

Police said this was the second significant arrest Gutierrez and Jax made on the parkway in the past week.

A Texas man was arrested for allegedly having an illegal handgun and 13 ounces of marijuana in his rental vehicle.
