Scholarships from Community Center of Northern Westchester
Nine students are recipients of the 2015 awards
The Community Center of Northern Westchester has announced the nine 2015 recipients of its Dowling Family Educational Scholarship Awards.
This scholarship program, now in its seventh year at the Center, was established to provide support and encouragement to students from families of limited means receiving assistance from the Center, who are pursuing higher education. The scholarship selection committee chose nine individuals for their dedication and commitment to educational pursuits:
- Ana Cabrera - a previous winner of a 2014 Dowling Scholarship award, now attending Westchester Community College.
- Johana Ovillo – a previous recipient of the Dowling Scholarship, now attending Westchester Community College, where she is studying to enter a health profession.
- Maria Panza – now enrolled in the State University of New York, New Paltz.
- Madelin Bu Monoz – a student at Westchester Community College, where she is studying to become a nurse.
- Henry Martinez – about to graduate from Westchester Community College with a degree in Civil Engineering, with plans to attend Pratt Institute to attain a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management.
- Mateo Ledesma Moreno – about to graduate from Ossining High School this June, with plans to study Mechanical Engineering at the college level.
- Hugo Manco – an arrival in the USA from Peru one year ago, where he was studying medicine, now at Mercy College, hoping to become a doctor.
- David Annunziato – a past recipient of the Dowling Scholarship, graduated summa cum laude from Westchester Community College, with an AS in Engineering Science. This year he is at Manhattan College, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
- Dayana Garces – about to graduate from Westchester Community College as a Dietetic Technician, and plans to attend Lehman College to become a Registered Technician.
