Slater Wins Yorktown Supervisor Race

Slater ousted the one-term supervisor.

YORKTOWN, NY — Challenger Matt Slater has pulled out a win over incumbent Supervisor Ilan Gilbert. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Slater received 5,543 votes to Gilbert's 4,936 — 53 percent to 47 percent, according to the county's unofficial results.

Slater, 33, has been program administrator for Westchester County since 2018. Prior to that he was chief of staff for state Senator Terrence Murphy.

Gilbert, 63, was running for a second term as supervisor. He previously was a Yorktown town justice.

Besides deciding who will be the supervisor for Yorktown, voters went to the polls to also weigh on choices for town council and clerk, with the incumbents being returned to office.

  • *Diana L. Quast, D, WF (Incumbent) — 5,291
  • Mary L. Capoccia, R, C, I, G, SAM — 5,134

Gary J. Raniolo was running unopposed for town justice.
