Solar Panels to Be Activated at Somers Library Ceremony
The system was donated to the town, which decided to install it at the library.

SOMERS, NY — A new solar system, donated to the Town of Somers, will be turned on September 1 at the Somers Library.
The town decided to place the 5.2 kilowatt system that has 20 solar panels on the library after it was donated by Direct Energy Solar.
Solarize Somers was part of the Solarize Westchester program which launched in October 2015.

To show its commitment and appreciation to the town, Direct Energy Solar donated a new system to the community.
The array has been installed on the roof of the library building and will be visible from the ground.

It is estimated that in one year the system will produce 5,278 kilowatt-hours, which is the equivalent of offsetting 8,178 pounds of carbon dioxide.
The system will be switched on during a ceremony at 10 a.m. at the library, located at 82 Primrose St. in Katonah.
