Somers Mulls Making Veteran Tax Reduction Permanent
The reduction applies to veterans who served during the Cold War era.

SOMERS, NY — A property tax reduction for cold war veterans in Somers that is set to expire could be made permanent. A proposed local law scheduled for a public hearing by the town board would keep the 10- to 15-percent reduction to the tax assessment of a veteran’s primary residence.
The public hearing will take place Nov. 9 on the law that affects 69 Somers veterans, the Journal News said.
The agenda for the Nov. 9 board meeting has not yet been posted on the town website. When it is, it can be found here.
