Sun & Moon Health Spa Brightens Village Plaza Shopping Center
Lincolndale's new spa offers colonics and lymphatic therapy.
Ten years ago Dawn Wan was frustrated by a belly that wouldn't get flat no matter how many sit ups she did. That's when she discovered colon hydro therapy, a flushing of the colon that some believe detoxifies the body and ultimately, the mind and spirit.
"I as so frustrated that I was doing all of this work and still always feeling bloated," said Wan, an Arizona native and Somers resident.
The result was instantaneous--a flat tummy--and Wan became fascinated by the holistic approach to health that changed the way she ate and cared for her system. Ridding her system of built-up toxins, Wan's energy level, skin texture and feeling of chronic bloating went away.

After spending five years in Manhattan practicing colon hydro therapy, Wan has opened Sun & Moon Health Spa in the Village Plaza Shopping Center in Lincolndale. She co-owns the spot with her husband, Nicholas Szucs, a musician and teacher. "I'm the sun--Dawn--and my husband has always loved the moon," said Wan of the name.
With fresh watery-blue paint on the walls and new furniture still to be constructed for the entrance, Sun & Moon Health Spa is near completion after a three-month renovation of its 155 Route 202 address. One treatment room means Wan runs the spa by appointment only and spends about an hour with clients performing a nutritional diagnostic and colon hydro therapy or lymphatic therapy.

All clients will discuss any medical conditions or treatments they are receiving so Wan can decide if colon hydro theraphy or lymphatic therapy are appropriate. "You will have to prepare your body first to make the experience most comfortable," said Wan. Before coming in for a colonic, you'll need to stay away from gaseous vegetables, dairy, alcohol and caffeine.
For colonics, Wan uses a filtered water closed system that allows regulation of the water temperature and pressure. The evacuation method is closed as well, so you won't encounter any offensive odors during the time you spend receiving the treatment.
Wan also performs lymphatic therapy on clients using the The Lymphstar Pro Fusion. The tool gives an external massage to the lymphatic system, which is a series of vessels that carry clear fluids through the body and toward the heart. The fluid transfers proteins to the cells and what are called he "building blocks" of the immune system.
"The lymphatic system can get clogged and build up toxins," said Wan, resulting in fatigue and lowered immune power. "When the body isn't moving, the lymphatic system doesn't move." As with colonics, energy level can improve. as can your immune system. Some cancer patients are using the treatment to minimize fluid retention and tissue swelling.
