Supervisor-Elect Michael Grace Prepares for Transition into Town Hall
Michael Grace will take office on Jan. 1, 2012. He and members of his transition team held their first meeting on Nov. 28.
is preparing to make a transition into Town Hall and town government. He has announced a team of community members and leaders to help him prepare for the seat and issues in town.
Grace, a former town attorney for Yorktown whose law office is directly across the street from Town Hall, thanked the voters and emphasized he would not lose sight of the fact more than 60 percent of voters cast ballots for his two opponents, Don Peters and incumbent Susan Siegel.
"I go into this with full humility and with sincere thanks for the opportunity we all have before us to move our town forward," Grace said in a statement announcing his transition team. "We quickly will implement some exciting ideas on how to bring teamwork, spirit and a renewed sense of purpose to all the communities that comprise Yorktown."

He said none of his intentions or ideas will mean anything without the people of Yorktown getting behind his efforts.
"We know a big part of our job is to convince them we are here for them, we work for them, we report to them," he said.

Grace said members of his transition team bring a broad diversity of experience, expertise and political party affiliation (or are unaffiliated with any political party).
"We've brought together folks who know Yorktown inside out, who love Yorktown, who understand its needs and its considerable potential," he said. "I'm counting on them, and on many others in our five hamlets, to guide us in the right things to do and how to do things right."

Grace said economic development, streamlining town processes, and constituent communications are some of the highest items on his agenda.
"What matters most is what Yorktowners want, what Yorktown can afford, what we all can accomplish together to continually improve our quality of life here," Grace said. "We've all heard the expression, Speak Truth to Power. This administration will do everything in its power to Speak Truth to People -- because that's where we derive our power."
