Teen Arrested For Burglary, 'Criminal Obstruction Of Breathing'

Yorktown police say the teen entered the home unlawfully in what was initially described as a call to a "domestic dispute."

YORKTOWN, NY — Violence at a Westchester home has led to the arrest of a teenage boy, according to police.

Police arrested a Yorktown 17-year-old for burglary and obstructing his victim's breathing, Yorktown Police Department officials said.

On Saturday, around 9 p.m., the YPD received a report of a domestic dispute. Police say that the teen entered the home unlawfully and while inside, obstructed the breathing of a person inside the residence, causing physical injury.

On Sunday, the teen was arrested at his home and taken to Yorktown Police Department headquarters for processing.

The 17-year-old was charged as an adolescent offender, with felony first degree burglary and misdemeanor criminal obstruction of breathing.

A temporary order protecting the victim was served, along with the teen being ordered held on $100,000 cash bail. As he was unable to post bail, he was taken to a youth detention facility, police said. The teen was scheduled to appear in the Youth Part of the Westchester County Superior Court on September 23.
