What can freeze solid in winter, slow its heart rate to one beat per 10 minutes, hear through its bones, has no vocal cords to make a sound, and walked the earth with the Dinosaurs? Turtles, of course!
Sadly turtles are disappearing from the earth at a faster rate than any other animal, but we can still do simple things to protect these ancient creatures. We hope you’ll join us for an informative talk about what it is like to live life as a turtle, and that it will inspire you to help them. This lecture is open to families and those who are interested in turtle conservation. In this talk we’ll explore not only the five senses as experienced by a turtle but also some of the lesser known senses that turtles use in their environment - for instance, what triggers a turtle to want to right itself if it is flipped over.
