Two Yorktown Men Face Drug Charges after Traffic Stop

State police said they stopped the car because of its loud exhaust.

New York State Police arrested two people in Yorktown on March 7 after troopers stopped a vehicle traveling on State Route 6 with a loud exhaust.

The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old Yorktown man whose name police withheld, was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Impaired by Drugs, a Misdemeanor. He was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, when he was found to possess Alprazolam. The teen is due to appear in the Town of Yorktown Court at a later date and time.

They also charged 21-year-old Vincent A. Poggioreale of Yorktown Heights, New York, for Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 3rd Degree, a Class E Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation.

Police said Poggioreale, a passenger in the vehicle, was in possession of about eight ounces of marijuana, which they computed in grams; about 60 Alprazolam pills, and marijuana. He was issued appearance tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Yorktown Court on March 17 after he posted $250 station bail.
