Voter Restrictions in New York State

Did you know that the term, “VoterID” is being weaponized by the right and is actually used to try and restrict our access to vote? Robert Kesten supports our right to vote! I support Robert Kesten and will vote for him in the Democratic primary Thursday, September 13th!

VoterID may sound harmless, even practical, but in truth voter identification laws are being tightened all across our country for one purpose: to restrict our right to vote! Of course, these ID laws target minorities, immigrants, homeless, disabled veterans, the elderly and other citizens who may have difficulty getting required identifications. In the name of reducing voter fraud (which is not evident!), citizens are being kept from the voting booth!

Why does Trump-enabler Murphy, along with most Republicans, support VoterID? As Republican Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina says, in states with VoterID and other strict requirements, “elections begin to change towards more conservative candidates.” So VoterID favors Republican candidates like Murphy!

The fact of the matter is that we do not have widespread voter fraud, regardless of what Trump may scream. Our current NYS voting requirements are appropriate and sufficient:

In NYS you must be:

· U.S. citizen

· 18 by 12/31 of the year you file

· resident for at least 30 days

· not be in prison, on felony parole , mentally incompetent or vote elsewhere.
