YCSD Honors Retirees

YORKTOWN -- This school year 13 longtime staffers and two Board of Education members announced their retirements and ended long careers with the Yorktown Central School District.

Art teacher and Varsity Bowling Coach William Tovar topped the list with 50 years of service.

In all, these individuals totalled more than 350 years of service and countless hours of devotion to the children and parents of the Yorktown Central School District and in turn to all those in the Yorktown community.

Many of the honorees were able to be present at the June 20 Board of Education meeting when the board recognized these individuals and their accomplishments. Singers from the Mildred E. Strang Middle School and Yorktown High School choral groups, led by Thomas Arduino, performed “You Raise Me Up.” Afterwards current students and staff spoke eloquently of how each retiree had an impact on the lives of children.

“You have made a huge difference to us and the children of the district,” Superintendent Dr. Ralph Napolitano said. “We thank you for your service and your unwavering support to the students and the Yorktown community.”
