YORKTOWN, NY — The Yorktown Parks and Recreation Commission chairwoman was ousted at a recent town board meeting, overturning a decision made in the final weeks of Ilan Gilbert's administration. Town Clerk Diana Quast was appointed Dec. 17 to a new six-year term on the rec commission in a 3-1 Democratic partisan vote.

She was removed in 3-1 Republican partisan vote Feb. 4 after the reappointment was ruled to be invalid, the Examiner News reported.

According to the resolution, Gilbert's term of office as supervisor ended Dec. 31 and his vote was the deciding vote to reappoint Quast. The vacancy did not actually occur until Jan. 1, so the board found Quast's Dec. 17 reappointment to be invalid.
