Yorktown CSD Reduces Tax Levy on Upcoming Budget

The Yorktown Central School District Board of Education announced Monday night that it will reduce the tax levy increase to 0.0 percent for the 2016-2017 school year budget. The previous estimated tax rate increase of 0.26 percent was cut to zero because of additional state aid receipts and a recent positive evaluation of the school district's financial position.

"With the passage of the final legislative budget in Albany, which increased our state aid, the Board of Education decided it was able to forgo any tax rate increase next year,” stated Dr. Ralph Napolitano, Superintendent of Schools. “Additionally, given the recent credit rating upgrade by Standard and Poor's to AA+ from AA, which specifically cited our strong financial reserve position, the board members decided that a zero percent increase was attainable.”

Please note that the budget literature was prepared and printed prior to the Board’s discussion and decision on Monday night.

The Yorktown School Budget vote will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, May 17 at Mohansic Elementary School, 704 Locksley Road.
