The supervisor is asking residents to refrain from driving on town roads during the emergency.

YORKTOWN, NY — Yorktown Supervisor Ilan Gilbert has declared a Snow Emergency effective 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 6. The decision was made in consultation with Police Chief Robert M. Noble and Highway Superintendent David Paganelli. The Snow Emergency is expected to be in effect until the town’s roadways have been cleared of the snow from the pending storm.
The declaration is intended to help Yorktown’s highway department in its effort to clear the roads of snow and to assist the town’s emergency service agencies such as police, fire and emergency medical services in their efforts to respond to emergencies.
Yorktown town code says that any vehicle that is parked or abandoned on a public highway in the town during a public emergency may be removed under the direction of the police chief or the highway superintendent.
