Yorktown Family Loses Home In Fire; Donations Sought
"Needless to say, this happening right before Christmas is nothing short of devastating for them," the organizer wrote.
YORKTOWN, NY — Around 2 p.m. Friday, a fire broke out in a home on Blinn Road in Yorktown.
Even though tankers from around the area were called to the scene, the home was quickly fully involved in fire.
A family of four lost their home that day, and friends established a fundraising page to help them try to recover.

Organizer Liz Jacobson said her friend Melissa Young and her family lost everything in the fire, including four of their five pets — two doves, a parakeet and a dog.
"Needless to say, this happening right before Christmas is nothing short of devastating for them," Jacobson wrote on GoFundMe," and they can use all the support and upliftment we can give."

She said the house was a total loss and the family will have to completely rebuild their lives.
Since setting up the fundraising page four days ago, almost 300 people have donated more than $20,000, which was the initial goal.
Melissa Young and her sister Sarah wrote to thank all who have been so generous.
"in these difficult times, you've shared our burden and lifted us," they wrote.
"You've shown us we're not alone," they said. "We are deeply grateful."
Donations are still being accepted. Go here for more information.
