YORKTOWN GRANGE CAR SHOW TO BENEFIT LOCAL SCHOOLGIRL BATTLING PEDIATRIC BRAIN TUMORS

Car Show committee all in for charitable cause

YORKTOWN, June 11, 2015 – The 4th annual Yorktown Grange Car Show, to be held Sunday, June 28th at the Grange Fairgrounds, will be about more than which vehicles win prizes. Organizers are dedicating the proceeds from the show’s raffle to benefit a local elementary student recovering from multiple operations to remove brain tumors.

“Our 50/50 raffle is the biggest fundraiser of this event every year,” said Curt Chase, one of the founders of the car show. “And I’m really happy we’ve dedicated our efforts this year to raising funds to help this young girl and her family pay her staggering medical expenses.”

Jaime Ferretti, a ten-year-old student at Ben Franklin Elementary School, has been battling Ependymoma (pediatric brain tumors) since 2012. Since being diagnosed, she has had three operations to remove malignant tumors, and 33 rounds of radiation treatments, followed by MRI’s every three months. Despite their medical insurance coverage, the family is being crushed by medical costs.

“We hope our efforts will not only result in a sizable financial contribution, but will also raise awareness of this young girl’s courageous battle against pediatric brain tumors,” said Chase. “We want people to know that even if they don’t attend the show or purchase raffle tickets, they can go online to www.gofundme.com/hx7zd8 to learn more about Jaime and make a contribution.”

The Yorktown Grange Car Show will feature vehicles representing every category -- antiques, classics, modern, muscle cars, and imports -- all competing for prizes and awards. The Yorktown Grange Tractor Club will also have many of their vintage tractors, antique equipment, and small engines on display.

In addition to the exhibits, there will be food vendors on-site serving breakfast, lunch, ice cream, and snacks, as well as live music by Lakeland Education Foundation favorites Unfunded Mandate, a DJ, and even hay rides around the grounds for the kids.

“The Car Show is a great event that gets better every year – a really fun way to spend the day,” said Chase. “We fully expect this year’s show to be an even bigger success, and knowing that that success will benefit this worthy local cause is a driving force for all of us.”

Organizers are currently accepting early vehicle pre-registrations. Entry fees for exhibitors who pre-register are $15; and $20 at the gate starting 8:00am. Spectators will be admitted starting at 10:00am for $3 per carload, so bring your friends, bring the kids. Walk ins are welcome too.
