Yorktown HS Science Research Has Record Students at Intl Fairs

More than 30 students from the Yorktown High School Science Research Program presented their projects and findings at the Westchester Science & Engineering Fair (WESEF) recently. WESEF brings together more than 500 high school students from 40 area schools to present their advanced science research projects to local professionals.

Over the 16-year history of WESEF, the local Science Research / STEM education programs have expanded in quantity and quality to the point where the students representing our region are recognized throughout the state and nationally as some of the most talented and impressive even on an international level.

“The support for our Yorktown High School’s Science Research Program from the administration, faculty, parents and local professionals have been key elements as our students have carried out graduate level research and won the opportunity to present it in state, national and international venues. This year the Yorktown Science Research students won more spots to present at an international level than ever before,” said teacher Michael Blueglass, who runs the program with colleagues Rachel Koenigstein and Dominic Guazzo.

The Yorktown students will be presenting at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the International Sustainable World Project Olympiad (ISWEEEP) or the GENIUS Olympiad.
