Yorktown Man Accused Of Choking Wife, Trying To Assault Family

The man is facing 19 misdemeanors, including unlawful imprisonment, police said.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown man was accused of choking his wife and trying to assault other members of his family, as well as violating an order of protection.

The Yorktown Police Department said Jose Pillco-Guaraca, 39, of Yorktown, was arrested Sunday and charged with the following:

  • Third-degree assault, a misdemeanor
  • Second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor
  • Two counts of criminal obstruction of breathing, misdemeanors
  • Six counts of unlawful imprisonment, misdemeanors.
  • Five counts of endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors
  • Four counts of third-degree attempted assault, misdemeanors

Police said, shortly before 3:30 a.m. Saturday, a report was received about a domestic incident.

Multiple officers responded, met with the victims and completed an investigation.

Authorities said it was determined Pillco-Guaraca assaulted his wife, obstructed the breathing of his wife and one of their children, unlawfully imprisoned his wife and all five of their children, endangered the welfare of all five of their children, attempted to assault four of their children and violated an active temporary order of protection which protected his 1-year-old child from him.

Pillco-Guaraca surrendered himself to the Yorktown Police Department Sunday and was placed under arrest.

He was arraigned by a judge who issued temporary orders of protection on behalf of the victims and was released on his own recognizance.

Pillco-Guaraca is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Aug. 3.
