Yorktown School District Launches New Website
Yorktown Central School District unveils brand new website that is easier to use on multiple devices and with better navigation options.

YORKTOWN -- The Yorktown Central School District has launched a redesigned website this month to further enhance its community-wide communication efforts. This new and improved site remains at www.yorktown.org, but has expanded news sections, photos and features that will make it easier to use and easier to view from any device.
The project was spearheaded by Amanda Burns, the district’s Webmaster and Google expert, and uses industry best practices.
Superintendent Dr. Ralph Napolitano said he is very pleased with the fresh look of the Yorktown Schools page.

“I am thrilled. It will provide our parents and the community with more school news, events and important information in an improved design with easier navigation. I think everyone, those who are very computer savvy and those who are doing their best to stay current, will appreciate it for its beauty and accessibility,” he said.
This marks the district’s first major redesign since 2010. A mobile app feature will be ready later this summer.

Here are some features of note:
- The new design automatically formats the site to a user’s device whether a desktop computer, tablet or smartphone.
- Upcoming events are on a banner on the left side as is the frequently updated Google Calendar.
- Rotating slide show galleries to feature updated photos throughout the school year for each school.
- Each school can be quickly accessed from the top of the page by clicking on “Select a School” so parents, students and staff can easily get to the correct page.
- Six headings on the district site offer selections of main areas -- Departments, Board of Education, Superintendent, Curriculum and Instruction, Community Links and For Staff.
- Important Links, such as Code of Conduct, YCSD Assessment and Child Nutritional Programs are in the center of the homepage and easier to find.
- The District’s Twitter feed and Facebook page are embedded on the left side. Also each school that has a Twitter account has their recent tweets fed to their school pages.
