Yorktown Students Welcome NASA into the Classroom

NASA scientist SKYPEs into Yorktown Central School District class at Mohansic school to talk about space exploration and what astronauts do.

Yorktown, NY -- Scientists from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) couldn't personally come to Yorktown Central School District so they did the next best thing -- they used SKYPE to connect with our students for a live interactive online conversation.

Shown here are first graders from Mrs. Jen Saldutti's class at Mohansic Elementary School asking all sorts of questions to Rachel Power of NASA's Kennedy Space Center.

They wanted to know what astronauts ate for dinner, how they washed themselves and what kinds of experiments they did in space. Good questions! We could have some budding astronauts.

The Skype event is part of NASA's Digital Learning Network which provides an interactive learning experience for young students. The students have the opportunity to speak live with a NASA scientist, who in turn can see the students and answer them directly.
