YORKTOWN, NY — Challenger Matt Slater leads incumbent Supervisor Ilan Gilbert early Wednesday as poll results stopped coming in. With 79 percent of the vote in at around 12:30 a.m., Slater maintained a lead over Gilbert of 54 percent to 46 percent.

Infrastructure in the town was an issue during the campaign.

Slater said he wanted to invest in infrastructure through employing a director of sustainability and buying an environmentally preferable products program to design environmental procurement standards that will save money and protect the town's natural resources.

Gilbert said he would utilize the anticipated additional $1.9 million from the county sales tax increases to address some of the infrastructure issues facing the town, including reducing the time between the repaving of roads. He would also explore non-taxpayer revenue and grants.
