You're Invited to Join Relay for Life of Yorktown!

Relay for Life is in the business of saving lives & you can join us to help do the same! As one of your Relay for Life of Yorktown co-chairs, I am extending the information to EVERYBODY to join us! Visit www.relayforlife.org/YorktownNY to sign up for free & start fundraising!

But, let me tell you a little bit more about Relay! It is the largest fundraising event in the WORLD, and the money raised benefits the American Cancer Society (ACS). They are in fact the second largest contributor to cancer research second to the US government. They have donated billions to cancer research over the past 30 years! That’s no joke!

Funds raised by Relay for Life don’t all go to just research. Some of our local money raised, stays local. The ACS has created numerous different programs for cancer patients & their caregivers. These programs include a 24 hour hotline for support & information, the road to recovery program where cancer patients can get free rides to treatment, the Hope Lodge so patients don’t have to worry about lodging when traveling for treatment. They also run a program called Look Good, Feel Better where cancer patients can receive free wigs & makeovers. I have personally seen the Look Good, Feel Better program in action when I went with my Aunt Carol last summer. It’s INCREDIBLE!

Relay for Life is a great way to get involved with your community. You will meet so many wonderful people whose stories are so similar to yours & who can help comfort and support during any cancer journey. I can personally attest to our community and how they were there when my Aunt Carol passed away last summer after her 5 year battle with colon cancer. I am forever thankful for them.

Relay for Life is also very family friendly & kid friendly! Some of our top fundraising teams are indeed made up of kids! There is no age limit so your 2nd grader is more than welcome to join and fundraise along side everybody else! Kids have been such a great driving force & inspiration for Relay. We want to see a world where our kids & their kids don’t have to experience the heart wrenching words, “you have cancer”. Let them be your inspiration.
