• Tricities Group Tackles Tax Reform (thepilot.com) — Aberdeen officials are working with Southern Pines and Pinehurst leaders to respond to new state proposals that could cap how much local governments raise property taxes. The Tricities group recently reviewed House Bill 1089, which would ask voters in November to amend the state constitution on tax limits and local control over development. 
• SCC Jazz Band Presents ‘Swingin' on the Sunny Side' (thepilot.com) — A longtime Aberdeen resident, Dr. Larry Arnold, will lead the SCC Jazz Band in a free “Swingin’ on the Sunny Side” concert at Sandhills Community College’s Owens Auditorium on Monday, June 15. The evening features classic jazz favorites and opens with the New Horizons Band in the Pines Swing Band, showcasing several well-known Moore County musicians.
• West Virginia man charged after Aberdeen chase, crash (sandhillssentinel.com) — Aberdeen police report that a man wanted on multiple warrants was arrested after allegedly fleeing a local traffic stop and crashing into another vehicle, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. He now faces several traffic and larceny-related charges from Aberdeen and other North Carolina counties, with secured bonds set by a Moore County magistrate.
