Group works to refurbish, promote legacy of Alamance County African American cemetery (myfox8.com) — A group of descendants and volunteers is working to restore and better document Snow Hill Cemetery, a historic African American burial ground in Alamance County dating back to 1820. They’ve cleared overgrown trees, cleaned headstones, and applied for a grant to honor veterans and uncover unmarked graves. Locals who suspect relatives may be buried there are urged to contact organizers.

2. Alamance County community concerned about trash piling up at dump site (myfox8.com) — Neighbors along High Rock Road and Lynch Store Road in Alamance County are fed up with a long-running illegal dump where trash, electronics, and mattresses keep piling up. County officials and NCDOT say they’ve cleaned it multiple times and are now coordinating with law enforcement and the landowner. Residents can report new debris issues through the NCDOT website.

3. First Buc-ee's in North Carolina continues making progress: Latest update here (wbtv.com) — A massive Buc-ee’s travel center is officially coming to Mebane, on the eastern edge of Alamance County, with a groundbreaking set for June 10 and an opening targeted for late 2027. The 30-plus-acre site off I-40/85 will feature 120 fuel pumps, EV chargers, and a 74,000-square-foot store, promising a major new pit stop and jobs hub for local residents.

South Carolina offers four-star athlete after strong camp performance (on3.com subscription) — A standout from Burlington’s Southeast Alamance High, four-star athlete Joseph “Jet” Gibbs, just picked up a football offer from the University of South Carolina after a strong camp showing.
