Hungry bear keeps trying to force its way into homes in NC neighborhood, state says (newsobserver.com) — A female bear has repeatedly entered or tried to enter homes in a north Asheville neighborhood, prompting state wildlife officials to search for and euthanize her while relocating her cubs. Residents are being urged to secure doors, remove food sources, and actively haze bears so they move along, as bear break-ins have risen around Beaverdam Road and other parts of Asheville's growing bear-populated area.
   

2. Asheville plans more resilient rebuild of Gashes Creek Bridge after Helene (wlos.com) — Asheville is moving ahead with a long-term plan to rebuild the Gashes Creek Bridge and transform the Azalea Road area into a more resilient recreation hub after Hurricane Helene's damage. City leaders are considering additional recovery funding, keeping a temporary bridge in place, and designing a permanent span with bike lanes, better neighborhood connections, and improved access to the WNC Nature Center.

4.
