• Southport fire chief files lawsuit against Novant Health after mother's fatal fall (wect.com) — A wrongful-death lawsuit has been filed over care at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center in Bolivia, alleging staff failed to protect and properly monitor a high fall-risk patient who later died from a brain bleed. The Southport fire chief, acting for his mother’s estate, claims gross negligence in fall precautions, response to her deterioration, and timing of her transfer, and is seeking a jury trial and damages.
