Commissioners differ over municipal picks for county's library committee (alamancenews.com) ā Alamance County commissioners have overridden Burlingtonās preferred nominee for a key seat on the county Library Committee, signaling tension between the county and cities over who represents local branches. Burlington, Graham, and Mebane all saw their city council recommendations challenged or replaced, raising questions about how much say municipalities really have in shaping library oversight.

Burlington textile plant to close at the end of the year, a WARN notice says (wfmynews2.com) ā Elevate Textiles plans to shut down its Burlington facility on December 31, cutting about 150 local jobs, according to a state WARN notice. The company hasnāt yet explained why the plant is closing or what support, if any, affected Burlington workers might receive.

Alamance County woman arrested on drug trafficking charges after traffic stop, K-9 alert (abc45.com) ā An Alamance County traffic stop led to the arrest of a Burlington woman accused of trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine, after a K-9 alerted deputies to drugs in her vehicle. Sheās being held without bond under the stateās Pre-Trial Integrity Act because she was already out on bond in a separate trafficking case earlier this year.
