Staff instructed by city council to draft new ordinance allowing backyard chickens (alamancenews.com) — Burlington’s city council has directed planning staff to draft rules that could finally allow residents to keep small backyard flocks of hens within city limits. After a survey showed strong support and comparisons with nearby towns, staff are preparing a detailed permitting and coop-standards proposal for council review this fall, aiming to prevent nuisances while opening the door to urban chicken keeping.
   

2. Over the next school year, she’ll receive training and support to strengthen indoor air quality planning, potentially improving classroom conditions and long-term building health for local students and staff.
