1. New Hanover Community Endowment awards $15.8M for recreation, health and community (wwaytv3.com) — Carolina Beach is set to receive $3.5 million over two years to help build a new coastal park and event stage near the Boardwalk, creating a year-round oceanfront gathering space. The grant, part of $15.8 million awarded countywide, will supplement the town's own investment and fund features like an amphitheater, open lawns, accessible paths, and stormwater improvements.
   

2. There's an ice rink coming to this North Carolina beach town (cardinalpine.com) — Carolina Beach is bringing a temporary ice-skating rink to a lot between Carolina Beach Avenue South and Cape Fear Boulevard, with town seed funding and a planned Nov. 27–Jan. 3 run. The Pleasure Island Chamber hopes the seven-week attraction, special events, and possible Carolina Hurricanes tie-ins will boost local businesses, reduce offseason layoffs, and help build a stronger shoulder-season economy.
   

3. Carolina Beach receives $3.5 million grant for planned oceanfront park (wwaytv3.com) — Carolina Beach has secured a provisional $3.5 million grant to kickstart a new oceanfront Coastal Park and event stage near the boardwalk, part of a long-term project expected to top $20 million. Town leaders say the first phase will cover design, landscaping, stormwater improvements, and a new stage, while some residents are urging stronger protections against flooding and environmental impacts as work ramps up this winter.
   

4. American Cancer Society to host Pink Tide 5K and Bachelor Auction (wwaytv3.com) — Carolina Beach will host the American Cancer Society's Pink Tide 5K and Bachelor Auction on Saturday, Oct. 3, with the run and walk starting at Lake Park and the auction later at The Lazy Pirate. The fundraiser celebrates breast cancer survivors and supports awareness and resources for patients, caregivers, and families, drawing thousands of participants and significant donations across coastal communities.
