• Robert Wayne Canady, 80 (portcitydaily.com subscription) — Castle Hayne readers are remembering 80-year-old Robert Wayne Canady, who grew up here while his father sharecropped in what’s now the GE site and came to love the Cape Fear region’s waterways. Known to fellow anglers as “Tongue-Fish,” he hosted the Northeast Cape Fear River Bream Tournament and leaves a large family across Rocky Point and Wilmington.
