University Place Brings the Heat with “Summer Vibes” Series Of Free Community Events

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Jun. 8, 2026)—University Place is proud to launch Summer Vibes, a two-month event series celebrating community, connection and summer fun. The events will take place throughout June and July and are designed to bring the Chapel Hill community together through a variety of family-friendly entertainment, wellness programming and local experiences.

“With the launch of our Summer Vibes campaign, we’re excited to bring a full lineup of seasonal programming to the center,” said Devon Burke, marketing and specialty licensing manager at University Place. “From wellness events and local shopping to live music, outdoor movies and family-friendly gatherings like our delicious Sprinkle Mingle, we’re focused on creating opportunities for guests to connect and enjoy the season together.”

Summer Vibes will feature a wide array of themed activities for guests of all ages, including:

Sunrise Yoga Series: Every Tuesday in June from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. – Located in The Commons

Start the mornings with movement and mindfulness during the Summer Sunrise Yoga Series. These free, all-level classes are designed to help participants energize their bodies, improve flexibility, and connect with fellow community members in an outdoor setting.

For the first three weeks of the series, attendees will begin with a 30-minute high-intensity, low-impact workout led by [solidcore], followed by guided yoga instruction. Following each class, guests can enjoy refreshments from participating tenants.

Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market: Select dates in June and July – Located in the parking lot near Stoney River Steakhouse & Grill

The Chapel Hill Farmers' Market will feature a variety of fresh produce, meats, crafts, gifts and more, all grown or hand-produced within 60 miles of Chapel Hill. The market will be held on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Tuesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The market schedule is as follows:

• June
  • Saturdays: 13, 20 and 27
  • Tuesdays: 9, 16, 23 and 30
• July
  • Saturdays: 4, 11, 18 and 25
  • Tuesdays: 7, 14, 21 and 28

“As summer harvest season gets underway, guests can discover an abundance of fresh local produce, including tomatoes, peaches and other seasonal favorites, while supporting the farmers and makers who help make our community so special,” said Kate Underhill, manager of the Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market. “We look forward to bringing people together to shop locally, connect with their neighbors and celebrate the best of the summer season.”

UP L!VE: Summer Concert Series: Select Fridays in June and July

Beginning at 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., University Place invites the community to enjoy UP L!VE, a new summer concert series featuring live music, outdoor entertainment and family-friendly fun.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a variety of musical styles alongside the center’s dining and entertainment offerings. The Summer Concert Series schedule is as follows:

• June 12 | Pocket Park: Natty Boh Duo — An acoustic performance featuring crowd-favorite songs spanning rock, bluegrass and more.
• June 26 | The Commons: Garrett Huffman Band — A full-band performance featuring country, alternative and pop music.
• July 10 | The Commons: Distillery Cats Band — A high-energy full-band performance featuring popular hits from the 1980s and 1990s.
• July 24 | Pocket Park: Party Parrot Band — A Jimmy Buffett-inspired performance featuring beach and tropical favorites.

UP Presents: Select Fridays in June and July – Located in The Commons

Get ready for evenings filled with laughter, adventure and community connection during UP Presents. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and snacks to enjoy family-friendly movies under the stars beginning at 6:00 p.m. The UP Presents film schedule is as follows:

• June 5: Monsters University
• June 19: Soul
• July 3: The Parent Trap
• July 17: College Road Trip

Sprinkle Mingle: Mon., June 22 – Located at Jeni’s Ice Creams

From 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., the center’s Sprinkle Mingle will offer a cool afternoon of sweet treats and family fun at Jeni’s Ice Creams. The event will feature delicious flavors of ice cream, a DJ and lawn games for all ages to enjoy. The first 75 guests will receive free Jeni’s ice cream cones and exclusive University Place swag.

“At Jeni’s, we love creating moments that bring people together,” said Jamiya Thorpe, shopkeeper at Jeni’s Ice Creams. “We’re excited to celebrate the season and share the simple joy of enjoying delicious ice cream with the community.”
