• What is the Virginia Triple Crown? (wset.com) — Late model racing fans in South Boston can look forward to the Virginia Triple Crown kicking off Saturday night with the Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 at South Boston Speedway. The three-race series, created in part by SoBo’s track leadership, awards $20,000 to the driver with the best average finish across South Boston, Martinsville, and Langley. 
• 15 sites added to Virginia Landmarks Register (cardinalnews.org) — A new historic district along the Banister River, stretching to its confluence with the Dan River just east of South Boston, has been added to the Virginia Landmarks Register. The designation highlights 19th-century dams, mills, canals, and bridge sites that shaped river commerce near town, alongside 14 other newly recognized historic sites across Virginia.
• Clarksville shelves Cove Project (sovanow.com) — Clarksville leaders have shelved the long-discussed Cove Project on Buggs Island Lake after the only construction bid, from South Boston’s J. Harman Saunders Construction, came in more than $600,000 over available funding. Officials will now explore using existing grants to upgrade Clarksville’s current municipal dock and other lake access instead of building a new 14-slip harbor.
