2. Lawsuit on 'politicized curriculum' in Charlotte revived by NC Supreme Court (hanfordsentinel.com) — Charlotte Latin School is back in court after the N.C. Supreme Court revived parents' claims that the south Charlotte private school retaliated when they questioned diversity and curriculum changes. The ruling doesn't decide who's right, but it sends the case back to Mecklenburg courts, potentially affecting how private schools across Charlotte handle parent complaints.
   

3. Music Without Borders - free weekend of music from around the world Aug. 28-29 (charlotteonthecheap.com) — A free multicultural music and art weekend is coming to venues across Charlotte on August 28–29, with performances and activities in Camp North End, Central Avenue, and South End. You can catch Latin, Middle Eastern, South Asian, and Black artists, plus henna, illustration, and floral bracelets. All events are free and spread across three Charlotte locations and time slots.
   

4. Severe weather roars through Charlotte on Friday night, downs trees and power lines (wccbcharlotte.com) — Severe storms Friday night brought down trees and power lines in Charlotte, including one that crashed onto a home on Huntingtowne Farms Lane in south Charlotte. Neighbors described the scene as frightening and compared the damage to past hurricanes, while expressing relief the family inside was reportedly unharmed. The incident underscores how quickly local weather can threaten homes and safety.
   

5. Charlotte Catholic begins season with 24-0 shutout win over South Meck (wbtv.com) — Charlotte Catholic kicked off its football season with a dominant 24-0 home shutout of South Meck, marking coach Mike Brodowicz's successful return from retirement. The Cougars now head to Country Day on Aug. 28, while South Meck finally gets to host a true home game next week after more than a year of field renovations.
