Body Found In Field Believed To Be Missing Uber Driver: CMPD
Charlotte police believe the body of a man found in a South Carolina field is that of a Charlotte Uber driver missing since Saturday.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Police in Charlotte believe they have found the body of Marlo Johnis Medina-Chevez, an area Uber driver who went missing after leaving home to pick up a fare, in a field just over the state line in Rock Hill, S.C.
The announcement comes two days after two men were arrested in Annapolis, Md. for crimes related to his disappearance, including using Medina-Chevez’s credit card and driving his vehicle.
In a hastily called press conference Thursday evening, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Maj. Cam. Slevey said that information obtained during the course of the week’s investigation lead officers with a K-9 unit to the 2700 block of Mount Gallant Road, where they discovered the unburied body of a male fitting Medina-Chavez’s description.

Selvey said police did not yet know a cause of death.

“We were all hoping for the best, planning for the worst, and unfortunately we have come across the worst,” he said.
Medina-Chavez’s wife reported her husband missing May 21, telling police that her 44-year-old husband left their home the night before around 9:45 p.m. to pick up a client, but never returned. The next day, CMPD announced that homicide detectives were taking over the search for Medina-Chevez, and that they believed him to be in “grave danger.”

Earlier this week, CMPD released this photo of Medina-Chavez's 2008 Nissan Pathfinder.
Detectives from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s homicide division traveled to Maryland May 22, where police in Annapolis said they spotted Medina-Chevez’s 2008 dark blue Nissan Pathfinder on license plate reader near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Annapolis police stopped the vehicle and detained four occupants, two of whom were later released, CMPD said. The other two occupants -- Diontray Divan Adams, 25, and James Aaron Stevens, 20 -- were later charged by CMPD.
Adams has been charged with Financial Credit Card Fraud and for warrants outstanding in Maryland. Stevens has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Additional charges are expected to be brought against the two who are still in custody in Maryland, Selvey said.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
