Elementary School Placed On Lockdown After Shots Fired
The shooting involved a mother as she dropped her children off in the parking lot, according to reports.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Villa Heights Elementary was placed on lockdown Thursday morning after shots were fired in the parking lot, according to reports.
Police on the scene told WSOC that no one was hurt in the incident that occurred shortly before 8 a.m. but that the school is on lockdown as a precaution while they search the area for the shooter.
A spokesperson for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools said that the shooting occurred with a mother dropping off her children at the school was shot at more than once by a male suspect she knew and had a relationship with, Spectrum News reported.

Villa Heights Elementary is located at 800 Everett Place, near Cordelia Park in Charlotte.
This incident marks the second elementary school lockdown in Charlotte this week, which is also the first week of school for Charlotte area schools. Thomasboro Academy in northwest Charlotte was put on lockdown Tuesday morning around 8 a.m. due to Charlotte police action near the school, the school district's police department said.
