I-77 Toll Lane Vote Nears in Charlotte City of Charlotte (opgov.news) — Charlotte City Council is nearing a Sept. 21 vote on the I-77 South Express Lanes, a decision that could shape local taxes, tolls, and neighborhood improvements for years. Members are weighing up to $70 million in possible state reimbursement costs against promised sidewalks, bike lanes, and other corridor benefits while residents question transparency and public input.
   

2. New survey for traffic safety feedback released for Charlotte residents (wbtv.com) — Charlotte residents are being asked to share their experiences with dangerous roads and intersections in a new "Safety is No Accident" online survey open through Oct. 25. The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization will combine your feedback with crash data to prioritize fixes, from quick changes like signal timing and restriping to larger safety projects aimed at reducing serious injuries and deaths on local streets.
   

3. Elon to host United in Purpose, bringing together Elon and Queens communities (elon.edu) — Residents can join Elon and Queens University of Charlotte alumni, parents, and friends for a "United in Purpose" reception and program at Urban Garden uptown on Thursday, Nov. 5. The evening features hors d'oeuvres, remarks from Elon's president, and a dessert reception, with advance registration required.
   

4. Dave Chappelle adds Madison Square Garden date (latfusa.com) — Dave Chappelle is bringing his tour to Charlotte's Spectrum Center on Wednesday, October 21, as part of a run of arena shows across North America. The performance will be a phone-free experience using Yondr pouches, and fans must follow strict rules about device use throughout the night.
