Pastor Doug Lattimore opened his Bible to Psalm 2 and returned again and again to a single phrase: you are anointed for the opposition.

His point was steadying. Opposition isn't always a sign that something has gone wrong; sometimes it is a sign that something has gone right — that God has set His hand on a life, and the resistance is the proof rather than the contradiction.Reading from the Message Bible, he walked through Psalm 2's restless opening — "Why the big noise, nations?" — and God's invitation to "name it," to bring real and specific requests to God rather than stay silent through a hard season. He pointed to King David, anointed as the next king even though his own family overlooked him, as proof that being passed over by people does not cancel being chosen by God.

The service paused mid-stream to pray for members in Kenya, where school fires and student unrest had taken young lives and closed campuses.
