Deputy Town Manager Retiring After 38 Years (corneliustoday.com) — Cornelius Deputy Town Manager Wayne Herron is retiring next week, ending a 38-year career that heavily shaped the town's planning and road projects. Colleagues and residents praise his hands-on work with NCDOT, neighborhood meetings, and long service, while he and his family plan to stay in the Lake Norman area and stay active locally. 
2. Cornelius Inn proposal earns approval in split board vote (lakenormanpublications.com) — A closely split Cornelius town board has approved the 40-room Cornelius Inn with seven cottages and a spa at Mayes Road and N.C. 73. The project, partly in Cornelius' ETJ near Davidson and Huntersville, adds lodging, multi-use paths, strict Cotswold-style design rules, and will eventually require annexation into town limits.
3. Cornelius officer terminated after partner used cameras to track ex-wife (wsoctv.com) — A former Cornelius police officer was recently fired after an internal investigation tied his girlfriend's alleged misuse of Mooresville license plate cameras to track his ex-wife to a violation of department policy. Officials cite personnel privacy laws in declining details, while the officer denies involvement and says his attorney is weighing legal options against the Cornelius Police Department.
4. South Main Street Closure Drags On (corneliustoday.com) — Drivers on the Cornelius-Davidson line face months more disruption as South Main Street's closure, tied to the Potts Street roundabout project, stretches into late fall. NCDOT is trying to speed work while temporary three-way stops and Davidson-led business promotions aim to keep nearby shops and restaurants afloat during the extended shutdown.
5. Residents Voice Feedback on Infill Proposal (corneliustoday.com) — Cornelius commissioners will soon hold a public hearing on a 16-home infill development off Washam Potts Road, where neighbors are already raising stormwater concerns.
