• Cornelius police chief who led search for missing 11-year-old to retire after decadeslong career (wbtv.com) — Cornelius Police Chief David Baucom will retire on Dec. 31, 2026, after more than three decades in law enforcement, including leading the search for missing 11-year-old Madalina Cojocari. Town officials praised his leadership as plans for the department's next chief are expected in October, while investigators say the high-profile missing-person case remains active.

• CATS rolls out new and expanded service across Mecklenburg County (qcnews.com) — CATS is launching a new Route 177 North Meck Connector that will run hourly on weekdays between uptown Charlotte and the Cornelius Park & Ride, along with Huntersville and Davidson stops. North Meck microtransit hours are also being extended to 9 p.m. daily, giving Cornelius residents more options for commuting, errands, and evening trips across Mecklenburg County.
