• SeaD Consulting tests 44 shrimp dishes at Crystal Coast eateries with genetic testing (wcti12.com) — Emerald Isle diners may be surprised to learn that only a minority of tested shrimp dishes at Crystal Coast restaurants actually contained U.S. wild-caught shrimp, though Gaffer’s in Emerald Isle was among those correctly serving it. A consulting firm’s genetic testing found many dishes marketed as local or wild-caught were actually imported and farm-raised, raising concerns about transparency and support for local shrimpers.
