Man charged in fatal crash on U.S. 70 (newsargus.com) — Goldsboro police have charged an 83-year-old city resident after a wrong-way crash on U.S. 70 at North William Street killed a Mount Olive motorcyclist. Investigators say the pickup and motorcycle collided head-on and caught fire; the driver faces misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and reckless driving charges and was released on a secured bond.

Officials sign off on regional wastewater system (newsargus.com) — Goldsboro’s City Council has approved a key first-step letter to create a countywide wastewater utility, keeping the city in firm control of future sewer decisions and assets. If other Wayne County towns sign on, Goldsboro would own and operate a unified system, potentially lowering rates, unlocking state grants, and shaping how growth and infrastructure are managed for years.
   

3. Duke Energy to Celebrate Grand Opening of New Goldsboro Operations Center (goldsborodailynews.com) — Duke Energy has opened a new state-of-the-art operations center in Goldsboro that will coordinate line crews and support power reliability for nearly 54,000 customers across Wayne and nearby counties. The facility, staffed by more than 55 employees, is designed to speed outage response, modernize local electrical infrastructure, and help meet growing energy demand in and around Goldsboro.
   

4. The Youngest American Killed In The Vietnam War (njurbannews.com) — Goldsboro is the hometown of Dan Bullock, recognized as the youngest American service member killed in the Vietnam War at just 15. His story traces a difficult path from North Carolina to Brooklyn, his brief service in Vietnam, and later honors including a highway marker and cemetery entrance named for him in Goldsboro.
