Please join Guilford College on Friday, March 25, for the unveiling and dedication of a historic marker on campus commemorating the life of Lavina “Vina” Curry, a free Black abolitionist who worked at New Garden Boarding School and risked her life as an operative on the Underground Railroad.  

A component project of Guilford College’s Curry-Coffin Commission on Slavery, Race, and Recognition, this marker will bring recognition to Vina's remarkable life and to the vital roles African Americans played in the Underground Railroad and the early life of Guilford College.
