His family is grieving and questioning whether a more thorough police search Saturday, after earlier shots-fired calls, might have changed the outcome, while officers have not yet announced any suspects or motive.
   

2. Guilford County To Change Who Hands Out Fireworks Permits (rhinotimes.com) — Guilford County commissioners are set to shift fireworks permitting so that Greensboro's City Council, not the county clerk, will handle displays inside city limits starting December 31, 2026. That means any concert, fair, or public celebration using professional fireworks in Greensboro will need city-issued permits and inspections, while county emergency services will oversee displays elsewhere in Guilford County.
   

3. Sheriff's Office To Buy Drones, Electric Bikes And Sci-Fi GPS Tracking Dart Guns (rhinotimes.com) — Greensboro is leading a federal grant that will give the Guilford County Sheriff's Office over $74,000 for new law-enforcement tools, including drones, electric bikes, and GPS dart trackers to reduce dangerous high-speed chases. County commissioners are set to approve the spending Oct. 1, meaning residents could soon see more technology used at local events and during vehicle pursuits.

Video: White supremacist demonstration in downtown Greensboro draws counterprotesters; 'Racists, go home' (myfox8.com) — Downtown Greensboro saw a brief white supremacist march near North Eugene Street, drawing a growing crowd of residents who followed, chanted against racism, and documented the incident while police monitored. City council members, including April Parker and Adam Marshal, condemned organized racial hatred and urged residents to confront racism, learn Greensboro's history, and report threats or intimidation through proper channels.
