Neighbors can learn more and ask questions at a community meeting next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Benjamin Public Library on Benjamin Parkway.
   

2. 'We're all afraid to do our jobs' Greensboro bar owner shares safety concerns after mass shooting (wxii12.com) — A Greensboro bar owner near the site of a recent deadly shooting says nightlife workers are increasingly afraid to do their jobs and is calling for stronger nighttime safety measures. She's shortened hours, added seven-day security, and is urging city leaders—who are considering reviving nightlife ordinances and a task force—to boost police presence while avoiding unfair blame on bar owners for street violence.
   

3. Greensboro leaders work to make city car-optional (myfox8.com) — Greensboro officials are pushing ahead with plans to make the city increasingly car-optional by expanding and connecting greenways so residents can travel across town without driving. Parks and Recreation leaders briefed a City Council subcommittee on upcoming links like the A and Y Greenway and a proposed East Greensboro Greenway, and a new Friends of the Downtown Greenway group will help fund and support the effort.
   

4. Missing man last seen on surveillance footage at gas station before vehicle discovered crashed in Greensboro (wxii12.com) — Police are asking Greensboro-area residents for help locating Robert Allen Book III, whose vehicle was found crashed and empty on U.S. 421 in Greensboro after he traveled from Clayton. Investigators especially want to hear from anyone who saw him near the crash, gave him a ride, or has dashcam footage that might show what happened.
   

5. Preds clinch 3-2 overtime win against Tampa in second preseason game (newschannel5.com) — Nashville edged Tampa Bay 3–2 in overtime in their preseason home opener, then turn their attention to a matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes in Greensboro later this week. The visit brings NHL preseason action to Greensboro before the teams wrap up their exhibition schedule and head into the regular season.
