Invest Greenville confirms four IEDC awards, with Grow in Greenville up for Best in Show (wcti12.com) — Invest Greenville, the public-private economic development group for Greenville and Pitt County, just picked up four international awards for its talent-focused "Grow in Greenville" website and related initiatives. The site, now a Best in Show finalist, aims to attract and retain residents by showcasing opportunities to live and work locally, while other honored programs highlight research, career expos, and Economic Development Week efforts. 
2. ECU and USARC to sign $6 million facility maintenance deal (wnct.com) — East Carolina University in Greenville will host U.S. Army Reserve Command leaders Monday, Aug. 24, to sign a 10-year facility maintenance agreement worth more than $6 million. The partnership, developed on campus, uses machine learning and wireless sensors to monitor Army Reserve buildings nationwide. It showcases Greenville-based expertise while bringing long-term federal investment into the community.
3. Greenville City Council approves Revive and Restore program to boost homeownership (wcti12.com) — Greenville's City Council has approved a new Revive and Restore Pilot Program to help low- and moderate-income homeowners fix up existing houses while giving Pitt Community College students hands-on renovation experience. Backed by $200,000 from the NC Housing Finance Agency, the effort will target repairs like roofs, porches, painting, and landscaping, with applications eventually handled through the City of Greenville.
4. Disabled veteran accuses Greenville officer of misconduct during his arrest after seeing viral Ring video (witn.com) — A disabled veteran in Greenville says a city police sergeant violated his rights during an April arrest at his apartment, a case that ended with charges being dropped. His complaints surfaced after the same officer appeared in a widely shared Ring doorbell video and was placed on leave pending an internal investigation. His attorney is weighing legal action while awaiting further explanation from police.
5. Pitt County shooting victim's brother speaks out after his murder charges are dropped (witn.com) — A Greenville man whose half-brother was fatally shot in Pitt County is speaking out after his own murder charge was dropped for lack of evidence. He still faces an obstruction of justice charge and says the arrest has hurt his reputation and job prospects. As he asks for an apology and dismissal of charges, deputies say they cannot comment during the active investigation.
